Johnny Lee Meriweather, b. 1/21/1932, passed from this life on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 10:15AM. He was preceded in death by both his parents, Henry Vernon and Emma Elle Mael (Burgess) Meriweather; one daughter, Lori; two brothers, Charles T. and Lloyd H. Meriweather. He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Myers) Meriweather, two brothers, Roy of Lonoke and Troy of Carlisle Meriweather; two sisters, Laura M. Aaron of Little Rock (Mablevale) and Betty L. McNeill of Carlisle; one son, John B. Meriweather (Melodie) of Beebe; four daughters, Portia (Harvey) Layton of Clarksville, Tennessee, Patsy Dunn Meriweather of Benton, Arkansas, Karen (Dennis) Winkle of Springfield, Missouri, and Linda (Greg) Gosslin of Denver, Colorado; seventeen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous friends and other relatives.Johnny was a lifelong machinist in California, then, in 1972, built and ran his own business (K & L Machine and Welding Shop) in Garner, Arkansas. Heart bypasses and other health problems caused him to retire and close the shop in 1999. He then became an avid fisherman and deer hunter at Lake Conway, Arkansas. He returned to Garner in 2010 to sit of the front porch and watch wildlife in the yard. He was a mason and served many years on the Garner City Council and Vol. Fire Dept. He was baptized into the Lord’s Church in 2011.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 6:00-8:00PM at Arkansas Funeral Care, 2620 W. Main St., Jacksonville, Arkansas.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 2:30PM at Arkansas Funeral Care. Interment will be at Hicks Cemetery in White County.
